NCFA Launches New Research Project

Profiles in Adoption is an ongoing research project intended to explore the demographic characteristics and personal experiences of adoptive parents and adopted individuals.

Calling all Adoptive Parents! NCFA invites you to participate in a national survey of adoptive parents. This survey is Part One of the Profiles in Adoption Project and is intended for all adoptive parents*, regardless of how long ago the adoption was completed or the type of adoption (intercountry, private domestic, and adoption from foster care). This research is intended to fill some critical gaps in adoption data that will strengthen the work of policymakers and adoption professionals and better support adoptive families.

We will make the results free and publicly available so they can be used to improve adoption education and training, to advocate for needed post-adoption resources, and to inform policymakers and other decision-makers as they craft legislation and policy changes regarding adoption. Survey participants will have the opportunity to be entered to win one of 150 Amazon $25 gift cards. For more information about the Profiles in Adoption research project, including our plans to do a second survey for adopted individuals, please visit Profiles in Adoption – this page provides a complete overview of the research project and includes social media graphics you can save and use to help us spread the word about the survey.

*This project is not intended for stepparent adoption situations.
